1ST LAUREATE

Marié Rossano of USA: 1st Laureate in the 2010 Competition.

Sixteen-year-old violinist Marié Rossano (the 1st prize winner of the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition) has appeared numerous times on the concert stage.  She has appeared as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Bellevue Philharmonic, Ottowa Chamber Symphony, and the Bainbridge, Coeur d'Alene, Federal Way, and Sammamish Symphony Orchestras.  In addition to the traditional concert hall setting, Marié performed with the Seattle Symphony at their December 2007 Holiday Musical Salute benefit concert, and with the Bellevue Philharmonic at the 2008 Symetra Bellevue Famy July 4th event at Bellevue Downtown Park.  Next season, Marié will perform the Bruch G minor Concerto with the Bremerton Symphony and the Shostakovich A minor  Concerto with the Seattle Philharmonic as the winner of their 2010 Don Bushell Concerto Competition.

2ND LAUREATE

Andi Zhang of China: 2nd Laureate in the 2010 Competition.

Andi Zhang (2nd prize winner of the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition) was born in 1992 in Liaoning Province, China.  She learned violin under Hao Tie of the Dandong Song and Dance Troupe between  1996-2004.  During those years, she won the first place at the Dandong City Junior Instrumental Competition, and second place at the Liaoning Province Junior Instrumental Competition.

3RD LAUREATE

Stephen Kim of USA: 3rd Laureate in the 2010 Competition.

Violinist Stephen Kim’s (3rd Laureate in the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition) solo performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor at San Francisco’s prestigious Davies Symphony Hall drew praise from the critics. The San Francisco Classical Voice exclaimed that Stephen’s phenomenal performance “left many of the audience in Davies Symphony Hall in a roaring state of astonishment. Stephen’s maturity of phrasing, not unlike Yehudi Menuhin’s, was the very soul of Romantic tastefulness.”
