4th Advanced String Camp Rules and Regulations (updated 6/17/2016)We will host the Stradivarius International Violin Competition String Camp in the summer of 2016, from July 13 –18. The camp is for Intermediate to Advanced students ages 10 and up. Students will have a rare opportunity to learn from high profile, distinguished coaches, from symphony members, and local University professors. This year is particularly exciting as it is the year that the competition is taking place. Master classes will be offered by our illustrious international judges, which will be something you won't want to miss. Students will spend their time in master classes, chamber coachings, and will also have ample opportunity during the day to practice their own repertoire and receive individual instruction on a personal solo piece they are currently working on. Small ensembles will include quartets and duets, and will be formed based on student level. Students will also need to practice individually off campus to better retain what they have been taught.
Students will hone their playing skills, learn and perfect new pieces, and gain a better understanding of the string world through daily lectures. These lectures will include effective use of practice time, performance psychology, how to prepare for competitions, applying to prestigious music schools, the history and making of violins, etc. At the end of the camp there will be a performance given by all students to demonstrate the skills and pieces they have learned. Students will also have opportunities to relax from the intensive work with group activities like barbeques, movie nights, concerts, and other events.
Application (due postmarked June 25)
