Kit Ying Cheng

Kit Ying Cheng (Katherine), age 16, has been studying the violin under her father's tutelage since she was 3 years old. Before immigrating to the United States in 2010, she participated in several music organizations and festivals, including the Hong Kong Community Youth Club and the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. She has earned associate and licentiate diplomas from Trinity College London, as well as certificates from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Two years after moving to the United States, Cheng has entered the Juilliard Pre-College Program to study with Elizabeth Chang. During her years in the US, she has won first place in the Binghamton Youth Symphony Conceto Competition, STMTA High School Competi-tion, 92Y Concerto Competition, Bravura Young Artists Concerto Competition and Juilliard Pre-College Violin Concerto Competition. She was also a semifinalist in the Cooper International Violin Competition.
