Jieming Tang

Jieming Tang, born in 1997 in Hefei, China, started his
violin studies with Tian Feng at age three. When he was eight, he began to
study violin with Zhao Wei at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and
entered the Conservatory’s pre-college division the next year In April 2010,
Jieming came to the United States to join the Junior Young Artist Program of
the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying violin with Paul Kantor, and chamber
music with Annie Fullard and Joel Smirnoff. He is currently a violin student of
Jaime Laredo and a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.
Jieming had received many top prizes in national and local violin competitions in China before he came to the United States, including Second Place at the 2006 “Close to Mozart” national Violin Competition, First Place at the 2007 “Golden Beijing” National Junior Violin Competition, and Fourth Place in the Junior Division of the 9th National Violin Competition in 2009. In April 2012, he was awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award in the U.S.
Additional performance highlights include: The 2007 Miss World Charity Show in Beijing, the welcoming ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a grand celebration in Bali, Indonesia, a public recital in China Anhui Radio Station, and N PR’s “From the Top” radio show in Potsdam, New York.
After coming to the U.S., Jieming has actively performed in churches, retirement communities, schools and other venues. Last year, Jieming recorded. a selection of classical music and launched a CD sale of 1,000 copies for St. Colman Church’s Capital campaign in Cleveland, Ohio, which raised $5,700 for the church.
