Jessie Chen, age 15, is a tenth grader attending Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Studying the violin since age 6 as a student of Elmer Su, he has won numerous awards including 1st place at the Music Teachers' Association of California VOCE Strings Competition All-State Finals, Junior Grand Prize at the 30th International Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival, "Young Artist Of The Year" at SYMF Competition, Artists of the Future Competition, 1st place at the American String Teachers' Association Great Los Angeles Finals, 1st prize at the Rotary Club District Governors' Music Award Finals, Semi-finalist for the Music Center Spotlight Award, and the "Most Promising Musician" award in the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic's Bronislaw Kaper Competition at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Highlights of Jessie's music career so far include a solo debut with the Bellflower Symphony at age 9, repeated solo appearance with the Beach Cities Symphony, Torrance Symphony and Palos Verdes Regional Symphony at the Disney Concert Hall, as well as with Asia America Youth Orchestra, Culver City Chamber Orchestra, Santa Monica College Symphony, SYMF Festival Orchestra, at the Peninsula Music Fair and the International Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival. Jessie is a straight A student and he enjoys science, sports, video games, computers and Yo-Yo.
