2010 Stradivarius International Violin Competition General Schedule
Day 1: Monday, July 5th

Day 2: Tuesday, July 6th

On these two days, eighteen of our most talented local violinists will compete in their first and second rounds! Come see them in Libby Gardner Hall for free. Then, on the morning of July 10th, the finalists will play for our acclaimed international judges. Join us at the Closing Ceremonies on July 10th to hear the winners.
Events are open to the public and free of charge.
Day 3: Wednesday, July 7th

7:00pm Opening Ceremonies & Performance by Andrej Power
Don’t miss our opening ceremonies on Wednesday July 7th, at 7:00pm, which are open to everyone. Here you will meet our international judges and competitors, find out the finalists for the Utah Division, and hear a wonderful performance given by our 2007 Second Place Winner, Andrej Power. He will be accompanied by the Salt Lake Symphony, and will play the impressive Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
Dress rehearsals are closed to the public. Opening Ceremonies are open to the public and free of charge.
Day 4: Thursday, July 8th

7:30pm Jenny Oaks Baker Benefit Concert
From the pre-selection round, fifteen International Junior Competition semi-finalists have been selected. They will make their first appearances on July 8th. All between the ages of 12-17, these fabulous musicians represent the USA, Canada, Korea, China, and Taiwan. Prepare to be astounded by their technical prowess and musical maturity. The final round will be held on the afternoon of July 10th.
On Thursday, July 8th, our own local celebrity, Jenny Oaks Baker, will present a benefit concert in Libby Gardner Hall, performing works by Schubert, Faure, Sarasate, and others. The concert will also feature Sarah Moench, talented local violinist and 2007 Stradivarius Competition finalist; watch as she joins Jenny for the Prokofiev Duo! The Concert will start at 7:30 pm.
Semi-Finals are open to the public and free of charge. Tickets for the benefit concert are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for students. Tickets available at Charles W. Liu Fine Violins or Libby Gardner Hall.

Join us on Saturday from 9:00-11:45am for an amazing learning experience as three of our international judges give masterclasses to local musicians! Andres Cardenes, Stephen Clapp, and Nicholas Mann will each present a 45-minute session.
Finally, after a week of long-anticipated, intense, and exciting competition, we will announce the winners of the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition! Local officials, judges, and competitors will all be in attendance. Come to the awards ceremony, followed by a performance from our top winners in both the Utah and International Junior Divisions. After hearing the preparation and abilities of these young performers, you won’t want to miss this priceless opportunity!
Tickets are $10.00 to attend all three masterclasses or $5.00 per class. Tickets available at Charles W. Liu Fine Violins or Libby Gardner Hall. Final Rounds and the Closing Ceremony are open to the public and free of charge.
