Kenta Nomura

Kenta is 16 years old and has been playing the violin from the age of four. He is currently studying with Dr. Ann Setzer and Mr. Khullip Jeung of The Juilliard School, where he was serving as a concertmaster at the orchestra, and also taking conducting class from Maestro Adam Glaser there.
Kenta has won many competitions such as 1st Prize winner of the NY Music Competition, Morgan Park Music Competition, LIU Concerto Competition, COS Senior Discovery Concerto Competition, Concert Festival Competition, and National Young Artist Concerto Competition. Last year he won the International Virtuoso Competition and 92nd Y Concerto Competition. Last fall he was a featured soloist with the NYIMC Chamber Orchestra in Carnegie Hall as the Gold Prize winner in the 2015 New York International Music Competition. In 2015, he was selected to become a quarter-finalist of Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians and performed in Novosibirsk of Siberia. Most Recently he won the first prize of Camerata International Competition and performed Waxman's Carmen Fantasy with CNJ orchestra at Merkin Hall in January.
During the spring of 2012, he performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the New Britain Symphony at Welte Hall, and that summer he performed the Carmen Fantasy by Sarasate with the Festival Orchestra at Tilles Center as the First Prize winner of the LIU Concerto Competition. In 2013, he played the Paganini Violin Concerto No.1 with Young Symphonic Ensemble of COS at Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center as the 1st Prize winner of the COS Senior Discovery Competition. In 2014, he played the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Mid Atlantic Chamber Orchestra as the Gold Medal winner of the National Young Artist Concerto Competition.
He has been attending the LIU Chamber Music Festival every year since the age of five. In 2009 and 2011 he won the Erick Friedman Memorial Prize. In 2009, 2010, and 2011 he received the Tilles Scholar Award. In the summers of 2013, 2014 and 2015, he also studied at the Meadowmount School of Music where he receives full scholarship in 2016 to participate. Kenta joined a baroque music festival in Quebec from 2007 to 2010, where he played his performances on the baroque violin. He has been playing chamber music in the "Kammermusik/ New York Virtuosi" directed by Dr. Dale Stuckenbruck since 2007. He has been a member of the Children's Orchestra Society directed by Dr. Yeou Cheng Ma since 2010 and served as concertmaster of the Junior Symphonic Ensemble.
