Preselection Audition - China
***China Residents only! All other applicants please use the standard Application Form!***
The Wuhan Violin Association, on behalf of Stradivarius International Violin Competition, will hold a special Preselection Audition for current residents of China only. These applicants must still adhere to the Rules and Regulations for performance requirements and the application packet. The Preselection Audition will be held in Wuhan, China, and will take place from April 29 to May 1. The SIVC President, Charles W. Liu, as well as two SIVC judges from the USA (Nicholas Mann and Xun Sun), will be present during the Preselection Audition to oversee proceedings to ensure everything proceeds quickly and in a fair and unbiased manner.
Please note: All applicants from China must attend the live Preselection Auditions held in Wuhan, China. No CD/DVDs will be accepted by the SIVC office in Salt Lake City for preselection.
All entry packets must include the following:
- The application form
- A copy of the candidate's passport providing date of birth
- A high quality, full color, digital headshot on CD-ROM or a glossy, full color photograph (at least 9 x 12 cm)
- Any documents attesting to the personal qualification of the candidate, including two original letters of reference attesting to their suitability to participate (one may be from the current teacher, though any from past, present, or pending family relationships will not be accepted), the candidate's biography, and photocopies of any other documents the candidate may wish to produce for consideration (diplomas, certificates, press materials, etc.).
Please refer to section 3 of the Rules and Regulations for each item required in the entry packet, and section 15a for more details on the Preselection Audition procedures. Candidates should retain duplicates of all recordings, photographs, and other important documents, as the SIVC will not return any items after the Competition.

- Applications must be received by April 26.
- The China Preselection Audition will take place from April 29 to May 1, 2016 in Wuhan, China. Three to six judges from China will be provided, depending on the total amount who apply, as well as two from the SIVC(Nicholas Mann, chair of strings department at Manhattan School of Music and Professor Sun from Southern Utah University). The SIVC President will be present to ensure proceedings run smoothly and fairly.
- The first round will be held on April 29th and 30th. Applicants will compete in front of the judges from China only, who will narrow down the applicants to approximately 15 to 20 for the second round.
- The second round will begin on May 1st. The two SIVC judges will join the judges from China and narrow down the group to a maximum of 3 competitors. These competitors will be accepted as Junior Division Semi-Finalists in the SIVC, making a maximum grand total of 18.
